Gorgias Alternative for Shopify: Compare Support Models and Costs

Gorgias Alternative for Shopify: Compare Support Models and Costs

TL;DR

  • Gorgias is an ecommerce helpdesk with Shopify data, ticket operations and order actions.

  • Matram answers from published content, cites the source and offers human handoff.

  • Matram’s published Shopify setup has no Shopify API access, live order lookup or cart event triggers. Keep Shopify order actions with a connected helpdesk.

  • Gorgias uses ticket and automated interaction allowances, not agent seats.

  • Matram uses message allowances with unlimited team seats.

  • Any savings comparison needs the store’s real usage.

Which Shopify support setup fits your store?

Keep Gorgias for Shopify order data, actions, ticket assignment or a multichannel inbox.

Use Matram for documented questions answered by approved pages. Keep the helpdesk available. No native synchronisation is claimed.

Compare another helpdesk when Shopify actions remain necessary but Gorgias no longer fits.

How Gorgias pricing works: ticket tiers and AI resolutions

The current Gorgias pricing page separates Helpdesk from AI Agent usage. Helpdesk scales from 50 to 5,000 included monthly tickets and is not priced per agent. AI Agent has an automated interaction allowance followed by an overage.

These figures were checked on 20 August 2026. Annual prices are monthly equivalents billed for the year. Starter uses monthly billing.

PlanHelpdesk componentAI Agent componentDisplayed totalIncluded ticketsIncluded automated interactions
Starter$10/month$30/month$40/month5030
Basic$50/month$27/month$77/month30030
Pro$300/month$171/month$471/month, billed annually2,000190
Advanced$750/month$477/month$1,227/month, billed annually5,000530

Ticket overages are $0.40 on Starter and Basic and $0.36 on Pro and Advanced. AI overages are $1.50 per additional automated interaction. Voice and SMS are usage based add-ons.

All Gorgias charges are billed in USD according to its Shopify App Store listing. Confirm the plan, billing cadence, tax and checkout total before buying.

The helpdesk bill moves with ticket volume

Gorgias does not price Helpdesk per agent, but plan-level agent limits can still apply. Its Shopify App Store listing currently limits Starter to three support agents, while Basic, Pro and Advanced list unlimited support agents.

Ticket volume still drives overage exposure, so budget against the store’s real ticket count, especially during peak months.

AI uses a separate resolved-interaction meter

Gorgias charges AI Agent when it resolves a conversation. Its table calls the unit an automated interaction, not a ticket or individual message.

Look at the combined price, including automated interactions and $1.50 overage, not just the Helpdesk component.

Peak months expose the meter

Do not borrow another store’s peak season numbers. Use figures from your billing and support dashboards. The entry fields are intentional; no store data has been assumed.

Ticket overage: Actual tickets minus included tickets, multiplied by the plan’s overage rate. Use zero if the result is negative.

AI overage: Actual automated interactions minus included interactions, multiplied by $1.50. Use zero if the result is negative.

Estimated Gorgias total: Displayed plan charge plus ticket and AI overages, add-ons and applicable tax.

Matram’s public pricing page does not display a message overage rate. Choose a plan covering the expected volume or request an Enterprise quote above Pro’s 20,000 monthly messages.

Gorgias vs Matram: helpdesk actions or cited answers

Their main jobs differ. Gorgias order management uses Shopify data and actions inside the helpdesk. Matram on Shopify crawls published content and installs through a script tag rather than a native app.

Pricing comparison without false equivalence

Matram currently publishes three monthly plans in USD, excluding applicable tax.

Matram planMonthly priceIncluded messagesData sourcesTeam seats
Basic$292,000/month3Unlimited
Standard$695,000/month25Unlimited
Pro$19920,000/month100Unlimited

Every plan includes cited answers, strict mode, lead capture and human handoff. Matram has a seven day trial but no permanent free tier. See Matram’s pricing.

A ticket, automated interaction and Matram message are not equivalent. Subtracting prices would compare different work.

When Matram may be a cheaper alternative to Gorgias

Matram may cost less when the store mainly needs answers from product pages, size guides, shipping rules, return policies or help articles. That is narrower than running a helpdesk.

It may not reduce the stack when customers need order status, address changes, refunds, cancellations or social support. Use the chatbot ROI calculator with the store’s own volume instead of starting with a savings claim.

Best Gorgias alternatives by Shopify use case

There is no universal winner among Gorgias alternatives. The shortlist depends on whether the store needs content answers, native order actions or broad service operations.

When you need a Shopify helpdesk alternative with order actions

Start with the required actions. Re:amaze documents order viewing, refunds, cancellations and draft orders. Zendesk documents order viewing, refunds and cancellations with setup conditions. Richpanel documents order details, discounts, address updates, refunds and draft orders.

Verify the plan and workflow before migrating because actions can depend on configuration, fulfilment status or permissions.

Test Matram before replacing Gorgias

Start with questions that may not need a ticket. Do not remove the existing helpdesk first.

  1. Choose a small group of product, shipping and return pages.
  2. Add the URLs or sitemap to Matram.
  3. Turn on strict mode.
  4. Test recent questions in the playground before publishing the widget.
  5. Include unclear wording and questions whose answers are absent.
  6. Send order lookups, refunds, cancellations and verification cases to the helpdesk or a person.
  7. Review answered, unanswered and escalated questions before expanding.

Keep Gorgias available while testing whether Matram prevents repeat questions from reaching the queue.

When Gorgias is the better fit

Gorgias fits live Shopify data, order actions, ticket ownership, routing and a multichannel inbox. Its documentation covers refunds, cancellations, order creation and order history.

Matram should not replace those functions. Its strength is answering from approved content with a source.

Frequently asked questions

1. Is Matram a full Gorgias replacement?

No. Matram answers documented questions, shows the source and offers human handoff. It does not replace Gorgias’s order access, inbox, routing or actions.

2. Does Matram work on Shopify?

Yes. It crawls public Shopify pages and installs through JavaScript. It is not a native Shopify app and does not use Shopify’s API.

3. Can Matram look up orders or issue refunds?

Matram’s official Shopify page says its published setup has no Shopify API access, live order lookup or cart event triggers. Use a verified Shopify-connected helpdesk or another authorised system for refunds, cancellations and other order actions.

4. What is a cheaper alternative to Gorgias for product and policy questions?

Matram may be cheaper when the job is limited to answering repeat product and policy questions from published content. Compare actual message, ticket and automated interaction volumes before deciding because the tools use different billing units.

5. Which Shopify helpdesk alternative supports order actions?

Re:amaze, Zendesk and Richpanel each document Shopify order capabilities, but their exact actions and plan requirements differ. Check the vendor documentation and test the required workflow before switching.

6. Can I run Matram and Gorgias together?

They can be used for separate jobs during a controlled test: Matram for documented website questions and Gorgias for tickets and order actions. This does not imply a native Matram and Gorgias integration. Confirm the handoff process before making it customer facing.

The bottom line

If product, shipping and policy questions fill the queue, test Matram on the content that answers them. For live order information or ticket operations, keep Gorgias or compare another Shopify connected helpdesk.

The best Gorgias alternative is the one that matches the work, not the one that looks cheapest in a pricing table. Try Matram for seven days or book a demo using your own store content before changing the support workflow.
