Before you start
Prerequisites
- A Facebook Page you are an admin of
- A Meta account that can approve app permissions for that Page
- A matram.ai account with a trained chatbot
- Content added to the bot (a website crawl is enough to start)
How to connect Facebook Messenger to matram.ai
A Facebook OAuth flow, then bind your Page to a trained bot.

Train a chatbot
Sign up at matram.ai/signup and crawl your website so the bot has content to answer Messenger threads with.

Open the Messenger connection
In Connections, choose Facebook Messenger and click Connect to start the Facebook login flow.

Authorise your Page
Log in with Facebook and grant access to the Page you want to automate. matram.ai requests Page messaging and read permissions, not access to your personal profile or ad account.

Bind the Page to a chatbot
Choose which trained chatbot answers on this Page. This is the standard channel-binding step, the same one Slack and the others use.

Message your Page to test
From a different account, open your Page in Messenger and send a question. Confirm the AI replies, and that lead capture works if you have it on.

Re-check the Page authorisation. If the Page permission was not granted, Messenger events never reach matram.ai. Reconnect and approve the Page.
It replies on the website but not the Page
The chatbot is not bound to the Page channel. Bind the trained bot to Messenger in the dashboard.
Replies feel generic
Add more sources to the bound bot. Messenger uses the same content as the widget, so thin content shows up in both places.
