What snippets are for
A text snippet is a title plus pasted content, added on the Text Snippets tab. It is the fastest way to teach the bot something that is not published anywhere: answers to common questions, internal policies, quick facts, opening hours, or a note about a temporary change.
The bot treats snippet content like any other trained source. When a visitor asks a related question, Matram retrieves the best matching passages and the AI writes the answer from them, citing the snippet as the source.
Add a snippet
Open your chatbot and go to the Text Snippets tab.
- Give the snippet a title that says what it covers.
- Paste or type the content.
- Save. The snippet is trained and the bot can answer from it.
Keep each snippet on one topic. Retrieval works passage by passage, so a focused snippet is easier to match to a question than one long snippet that covers everything.
Editing a snippet
Editing recreates the snippet. When you save changes, Matram replaces the old snippet content with the new version, so the bot always answers from your latest edit and never mixes the two.
Snippets never auto-resync
Website sources are refetched on a schedule, but snippets are not. There is nothing to refetch: the content lives in Matram, not on a page somewhere. A snippet only changes when you edit it.
That makes snippets a dependable place for facts you want to stay put. If the answer must be returned word for word rather than written by the AI, use a custom response instead.
