Zendesk Chatbot Pricing: The Copilot Add-On Explained

Zendesk's AI does not come with the base plan. The chatbot and generative features sit in the Copilot add-on at $50 per agent per month, on top of a Suite seat.

Prices verified 18 July 2026. Vendors change pricing often, so every figure links to its source.

Zendesk chatbot pricing is really two numbers multiplied by your headcount: a Suite seat, plus the Copilot AI add-on. Both are charged per agent, per month, so the bill grows every time you hire.

Everything here was read off Zendesk's own pricing page on 18 July 2026. If you have seen an older guide quoting a "Growth" tier at $89, that tier is not on the current page, and the AI add-on is now called Copilot rather than Advanced AI.

What does Zendesk cost per agent?

Zendesk Suite starts at $55 per agent per month paid yearly. The AI chatbot is not included at any tier; it is a separate $50 per agent per month add-on.

Zendesk Suite and Copilot pricing per agent per month, verified July 2026
Plan or add-onPrice (paid yearly)What it covers
Suite Team$55 / agent / moCore ticketing, email, chat, help centre
Suite Professional$115 / agent / moAdds skills-based routing and deeper reporting
Suite Enterprise + CopilotCustom (talk to sales)Enterprise controls, bundled Copilot
Copilot (AI add-on)$50 / agent / moAI agent, generative replies, intelligent triage
Workforce Engagement bundle$50 / agent / moWorkforce management and quality assurance
Contact Center$83 / agent / moVoice contact-centre capability

The important line is the fourth one. A Suite seat alone does not give you an AI chatbot, so any realistic Zendesk chatbot budget is the seat price plus $50, times every agent on the account.

Real Zendesk chatbot costs at 5, 10 and 25 agents

Both charges are per agent, so the maths is simply headcount times (seat + Copilot).

Team of 5 (Suite Team)

  • 5 seats at $55$275
  • 5 Copilot at $50$250

$525 / month ($6,300 a year)

Team of 10 (Suite Professional)

  • 10 seats at $115$1,150
  • 10 Copilot at $50$500

$1,650 / month ($19,800 a year)

Team of 25 (Suite Professional)

  • 25 seats at $115$2,875
  • 25 Copilot at $50$1,250

$4,125 / month ($49,500 a year)

What is easy to miss in Zendesk's pricing

The sticker price is per agent and paid yearly, and several capabilities people assume are included are separate line items.

  • The prices above are the paid-yearly rates. Month-to-month billing is higher.
  • Copilot is priced per agent, so you pay for it across the whole team even if only part of the team works the AI queue.
  • Workforce management, quality assurance and voice are separate bundles at $50 and $83 per agent per month.
  • Enterprise features and Enterprise pricing are quote-only, so you cannot self-serve evaluate the top tier.
  • Every new hire raises the bill twice: once for the seat, once for Copilot.

Zendesk chatbot pricing vs matram.ai

For a team of 10 whose goal is an AI chatbot, Zendesk runs $1,650 a month. matram.ai's Standard plan is $69 a month flat, with unlimited seats.

That gap is real, but so is the difference in scope, and it would be dishonest to compare them as if they were the same product. Zendesk is a full customer-service suite: ticketing, email, voice, an agent workspace, reporting and a help centre. matram.ai is an AI chatbot that trains on your content, cites its sources, captures leads and hands off to a human.

So the honest comparison is not "Zendesk or matram.ai", it is "do you need a ticketing suite, or do you need an AI front line?" Plenty of teams keep Zendesk for ticketing and put matram.ai in front of it, which the Zendesk integration supports directly: the bot answers from your Help Center and opens a Zendesk ticket, with the transcript, when a human is needed.

If you are weighing a full replacement instead, the Zendesk alternative page compares them feature by feature, including where Zendesk wins.

When Zendesk's price is worth paying

  • You run a real support operation on tickets, email, voice and social, not just chat.
  • You need workforce management, QA scoring or contact-centre voice, which are Zendesk bundles.
  • You have enterprise compliance requirements and want one vendor accountable for the whole stack.
  • Your team already lives in the Zendesk agent workspace, and switching cost outweighs the licence saving.

Where it stops being worth it is the narrow case: you want an AI chatbot on your website, and you are being asked to buy a per-agent suite plus a per-agent AI add-on to get one.
