Google Docs to Markdown Converter
Convert a Google Doc to clean Markdown. Download the document as a Word file (File, then Download, then Microsoft Word) and drop it here, or copy the document and paste it straight in. There is no Google account connection; it works from the exported file or from your clipboard.

What this converter does
- Reads the .docx that Google Docs exports and keeps headings, lists, links, bold and italic.
- Accepts pasted content as well, reading the clipboard's rich text the way the paste converter does.
- Drops fonts, colours and spacing, which Markdown has no way to express.
- Converts through the same HTML to Markdown pipeline as the other converters, so output is consistent.
How to use it
- 1Download your doc as .docx. In Google Docs choose File, then Download, then Microsoft Word (.docx). Or skip the download and copy the document's content instead.
- 2Upload or paste. Drop the .docx onto the upload area, or paste what you copied into the box below it.
- 3Copy the Markdown. Copy the result into your editor, repository or chatbot training sources.

If you are converting documents so a bot can read them, you can skip the step. matram.ai crawls your website, imports a sitemap, and reads PDF and DOCX uploads directly, then answers questions with a link to the page each answer came from.
